Community and a sense of “Tribe” is integral to how we as humans interact and thrive. During this season of The Harbor we will focus on understanding the importance of and developing a tribe of like-minded men that drive an impact on our various communities we are a part of.
SERVICE PART 2 | MATTHEW MONTGOMERY
Matthew shares his experience of his mission trip to Juarez, Mexico and how to tie serving into your why. He challenges us to develop our why through the 5 why’s exercise and use that why as fuel to serve others with the gifts we have been given.
ASSERTIVE LEADERSHIP | TYLER MANN
Tyler helps us to become better leaders by showing us how we find our place in the passive to aggressive spectrum. The best place to be is in the middle and become assertive. Assertive leadership comes with a mindset of being curious not furious and clear over unclear.
SERVANT LEADERSHIP | JUSTIN BASTIN
Justin didn’t hold back in his talk what it means to be a servant leader in your home, work and community. He lays out the characteristics of a servant leadership and ties in the three characteristics from the Tribe Fly-Wheel, competence, connectedness, and authenticity.
A Spiritual Awakening | Mark Webb
Special guest Mike Webb shared the traits that the accounts of the saints have in common, and encouraged us to spend time in self-reflection every day and live with conviction, compassion, and courage.
Authentic Living | Nick Blair
Nick Blair walked the group through the next piece of the Tribe Fly-Wheel: Authenticity, and kicked off a discussion about the importance of living life authentically.
Tribe Fly-Wheel - Competence | Joe Kennedy
Joe Kennedy introduced the group to the concept of the “Tribe Fly-Wheel”, which we will be deconstructing over the next few weeks. Today’s talk centered around competence.
Three pillars of Tribe | J.D. Shaver
Just as we learned in Season 1 with Relationships, there are also three pillars to developing and maintaining our Tribe of men. JD Shaver broke them down for us this week.
community Through Service | kendall hommes
Kendall Hommes, Eastern Hills Community Church’s outreach pastor, spoke to the group about why we serve.
Relationships Revisited | David Orcutt
Dave Orcutt revisited the topic of Relationships from last season to provide the group with a refresher.
examining Self | tom yozwa
Tom Yozwa gave the group his thoughts about self reflection, and shared a story about his friend Irv Brown.
Project C.U.R.E. | Dr. Jean Bouquet
Special guest Dr. Jean Bouquet spoke to the group about his company Cure Cervical Cancer, Inc as well as Project C.U.R.E., which many of our men will be volunteering to help with.
Tribe & Service | curt devries
Curt DeVries shared his take on service, why it is important, and how we can use service to grow closer to others in our tribe.
The Challenge | Joe kennedy
Joe Kennedy challenged us to expand our notion of what Community is, and really think about what causes us to shy away from giving something back to the many communities that we are a part of.

Nick Blair kicked our new season off with a recap of last year and set the stage for us to change our focus from “arrows in” to “arrows out”. Get ready for a season of Community!
